Customer Review: So far, very good.
I got this TV primarily because of the built in iPod dock and the good price. So far, I'm very impressed. Picture - After hooking it up to my cable box with an HDMI cable and adjusting some of the settings, the picture is even better than I expected, even on non HD broadcasts. Blacks are black, and no blur from fast motion. The screen does a great job of reducing glare and reflections. Sound - The sound is adequate. Has 2 speakers with an option for simulated surround sound. The sound is weak compared to a home entertainment system, but about average for a TV. There are several sound settings and can be customized. Remote - The remote works good and is laid out pretty well. I mostly only use it to to play the ipod, since normally use the remote from the cable company. iPod Dock - JVC is currently the only TV manufacturer that offers a built in iPod dock. The dock flips down from the front of the TV just below the screen, and gives you the ability to play music or videos from most iPod's through the TV. There is a very limited menu on the TV screen for control of the iPod. For most iPod models the TV screen menu only allows you to: Play music (alphabetically); Shuffle play music; or Play videos. You can also skip forward or back to the next song or video using the remote. More control of the iPod can be done using the TV remote to operate the menus on the iPod itself, or you can manually manipulate the menu on the ipod unit. It would be nice if the full ipod screen appeared on the TV, but it doesn't. Videos from the iPod are not very high quality, so are best viewed in a small screen mode. Overall - Seems to be a well made TV with a lot of features. I'm very pleased.
Customer Review: Great picture
I purchased the LT47P789 a couple days ago. I upgraded from the VP322- 32" plasma. I thought the plasma had a good HD picture until I put them side by side. There really is a big difference in richness and quality between the 2 pictures. The plasma seems to have a dull film over the picture with colors not as true or vivid including blacks. There is also a difference in detail such as face imperfections that are clearly picked up on the 1080 versus the 720 plasma. For comparison I used a Gefen tv splitter 1:4 that takes the HDMI cable from my Dish Network receiver and splits it to 4-HDMI displays. The Gefen splitters are a little pricey but they also split the audio correctly including lip sync pass through. 2 x 10 watt Speakers provide decent sound and are not tinny like on the plasma. A would recommend a surround sound system for true theater feel however. I see little to no motion blur while watching sports in HD. Its comparable with the plasma. The tv also has the ipod docking station that I have yet to try. The cons I see with the LT47P789 is it does a poor job with SD 480i signals. The plasma also did a poor job. The 480p progressive scan dvd player looks very good however. Hopefully we will have all HD channels in the near future. Just a note the factory settings were actually not that good for my taste when I got the tv. After doing some adjusting I ended up with: video status-dynamic, tint-45, color-68, picture-54, bright- 52, detail-25, back light-100, color temp-cool.

Have you found yourself deprived of life's privileges because of your out-of-date home viewing entertainment? This is probably the time when you should get yourself the latest in the television market. We have plasma TVs and LCD TVs available for every budget.

However, you should carefully look at the similarities and differences of the aforementioned televisions. Deciding which one is better may be complicated for some because both have good points. This article will take a look at the specific features that plasma and LCD TV have been raving about.

Plasma is actually the first to come up with big screen television. They started the 42 to 50 inch models that Liquid Crystal Display or LCD televisions have now exceeded. Since they have been in the market for quite a long time, their prices dropped to more than half of its previous price. Plasma televisions at the present market can go as low as $2500-$5000. This clearly shows that plasma TVs are relatively cheaper than its LCD counterpart.

But then, LCD TVs have been introduced in the entertainment market. During the previous years, LCD TVs can only go as big as 30 inches. Now, they can provide the biggest television we could ever wish for. LCD manufacturers are coming out with more 42 to 70 inch models that compete aggressively with the plasma TVs.

Basically, the most popular model is that of a 52-inch LCD. Samsung LN52A650 LCD TV is a good LCD TV that is now selling well. Manufacturers produced more of this models thus resulting to a price drop. This is one good point for LCD TVs. Plasma TVs are believed to be cheaper but not until overproduction of LCD TVs have controlled the market. In this match, plasma and LCD TV seem to have a close price fight. LCD televisions are priced at affordable rates because of its growing popularity and demand.

If you are looking for multiple multimedia benefits, then you should probably go for the LCD TV. It has PC inputs and memory stick slot that would allow you to use it as a replacement for your computer monitor. It can also be used to play MP3 audio files and graphic files from your digital camera. LCD TV promises a crisper and brighter images than what a plasma TV shows. This is the perfect screen for the video game fans.

Liquid Crystal Display television appears to have a greater edge than Plasma TV. For one, LCD TVs have longer life span. Plasma claims to have 20,000 life hours while Liquid Crystal Display have 40,000-60,000 hours. Second, LCD TVs do not have "burn-in" effects unlike plasma TVs. Images do not burn in the screen when the LCD is turned off. And while the Samsung LN52A650 sells millions, there are smaller screens of 32 to 36 inches suitable for traveling and for kids.

Definitely, the LCD wins the battle. More and more experts claim that LCD televisions have better features that the good old plasma. After a couple of years, prices of LCD TVs will drop even more to accommodate a larger market. This is perhaps a good sign that you should reinvent your home viewing entertainment with an exceptional new LCD TV.
